(2000) Designing Web Usability: The Practice of Simplicity. After completing this course you will have a good understanding of all the important Internet tools and you will be able to design and publish your own multimedia-enabled Web pages, that are both engaging and usable. |

| Even though this is an intermediate level course - you will be expected to do only introductory client-side programming - you will be given meaningful exposure to more advanced topics such as HTML hand-coding, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), JavaScript programming, designing Web pages and sites with good usability, and graphics file formats, their manipulation and preparation. In addition but optionally, a Web page editor such as Adobe's Dreamweaver (versions 8 or CS3 or CS4), or Microsoft's Expression Web (versions 1, 2 or 3), can be used to develop and construct the final Web project. | |

 Masterskill
Study Manuals. Four study manuals from Masterskill are included
with with the course. They are: (a) An Introduction to the Internet, (b) HTML4, (c) Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and (d) JavaScript. Masterskill is South Africa’s leading provider of IT educational content and products to commercial training centres and tertiary education institutions. The business was founded in 1995 and has consistently delivered quality solutions to its core customer base. Customizable courseware correlates the printed book with a multimedia CD-Rom and also with on-line assessments, internet based tutorials and lessons. | Note that students will be given the option to use Dreamweaver (or Expression Web) trial versions when constructing their final web project. The four Masterskill study manuals and accompanying CDROM's are included in the cost of the course. | |
