The pass mark for the examinations is 50% except for the Comprehensive Computer Literacy short course where the pass mark is 75%.
Examinations for the first semester are during May/June with the supplementary examinations being written in October/November.
Examinations for the second semester are during October/ November with the supplementary examinations being written in May/June of the next year.
Examinations for the year courses are during October/ November with the supplementary examinations being written in January/February of the next year.
Unisa may grant a supplementary examination provided that 45 - 49% was obtained in the examination.
Where a student qualifies for a supplementary examination, it should be noted that if the examination date or time clash, the supplementary examination will lapse.
There is a prescribed examination fee payable when writing a supplementary examination.
If a student did not pass the examination and do not qualify for a supplementary examination, the student can reregister again, but have to pay the full registration fee again.
