In 2000 the Gauteng Department of Education approached Unisa's Department of Computer Science and Information Systems to present a course in Delphi, aimed at equipping Computer Studies teachers to teach programming using Delphi. The course ran very successfully in 2001 and the GDE has subsequently decided to switch to Delphi as the programming language for HG Computer Studies.

The course is not only intended for those who have been teaching programming (HG) in the past, but also provides an opportunity for those who want to upgrade their knowledge to be able to teach programming for the first time.
