Simply stated, the Delphi for Teachers certificate course covers programming in Delphi, as well as how to teach programming using Delphi. Prerequisite knowledge: Computer literacy (especially the use of MS Windows) is essential. Some programming experience will be useful (but is not essential). Proficiency in Pascal will be an advantage. The basic tuition method is Unisa's distance education model. In other words, students receive tutorial matter and work through a prescribed book in their own time, at their own pace. They are required to complete a number of Delphi exercises and assignments covering the tutorial matter. Workshops form an important component of the Delphi for Teachers course. There will be three workshops this year, held in Pretoria. These will include lectures on some of the more difficult concepts of the course. Time will be set apart during the workshops for discussing problems and for feedback. The dates for the workshops are:
The workshops will probably all be presented at Unisa. For maps of the Main and Sunnyside campuses, go here. If an alternative venue is used, students will be informed. Lecturers can also be contacted by telephone or email for assistance. Solutions to exercises and assignments will be provided. There will be a written examination in January. |
